Make Your Sofa Shine Again with These Tips

Overtime, our home can go through different renovations or makeovers to keep up with our changing lifestyle and preference. Every once in a while, it’s nice to see something new around the living room to make it more welcoming and inviting for guests and for the whole family.

How to make your sofa shine again

Little improvements like changing the paint colors or replacing the area rug can instantly bring life to an old living room. But, when you failed to take your living room furniture set into consideration, it can also make your sofa look dull and outdated. Your sofa often serves as the focal point of the living room that is why it’s very important to keep it fresh-looking and updated.

While it’s easy to do minor changes around the house, sofa cost a little too much to replace on a whim, especially when you’re on a tight budget. Below are some of the useful tips on how you can update your sofa on a dime.

  1. Rearrange your furniture

The way your living room appears has a lot to do with the way your furniture is put together. Try to look at your floor space once again and think of a better spot to place your sofa. A change in location can give you more flexibility and instantly change the way you approach your sofa problems.

  1. Add throw pillows in different sizes and shapes

Throw pillows are one of the most popular sofa accessories but a lot of homeowners failed to make it the key to keeping their sofa stylish. If you have been sticking with a 16” or 18” square pillow, it’s time to try other shape or sizes to give your sofa a new look. A 24” square pillow can instantly make your sofa look more comfy and cozy while putting lumbar or even long lumbar can give your sofa a hint of luxury and style.

  1. Invest in a quality slipcover

Do you want to find the best way to hide your sofa’s blemishes and scratches? Consider investing in a slipcover that suits the current style of your living room. When buying slipcover, you can just purchase a large piece of fabric which you can tuck in creases of your sofa for a snug fit but you can also have custom made by furniture stores the offer that service.

Three Celebrity Living Rooms That Inspire

Celebrities are people we look up to when it comes to fashion and lifestyle.  Also, we take into consideration their personal aesthetic preference, be it for fashion, food, fitness, or even decorating when we do our own. Thus, it comes as no surprise that celebrity homes have become often featured in shows and glossy magazines. There’s obviously a market for it, from Elle Décor, Architectural Digest, to MTV’s Cribs gaining mass following. We simply want to copy their style, including their modern living room furniture set picks into our own homes.

So many “celebrities” (not particularly television or movie actors, but just personalities we see in reality shows and the red carpet) have cashed in on this influence, much to their financial gain. Kim Kardashian, who we only see in a reality show with her family, has fashion boutiques that are making a killing. “Celebutantes” Lauren Conrad and Nicole Richie have become novelists with bestsellers under their belt. We are currently living in an age where “celebrity taste” is held in high esteem, even if it doesn’t exactly fit our personal likes and styles. But then, as they have the money and more than enough help with their team of experts, following or at least, getting inspired by them would not be such a bad idea.

If you are doing some redecorating, you might want to copy the interior decorating style s of some stars.  You can always go online to check on some pictures to see if their styles do reflect your own.
